Some great rides on the South Shore on electric unicycles and scooters

Some nice rides on the South Shore of Montreal, in the Monteregie region.

If you're a fan of gyroroue or electric scooter, it's time for us to unveil our selection of the best spots on the South Shore of Montreal. In this selection, we only present routes that have already been tested by members of our community. Some of the routes are only on bike paths (asphalt or gravel) while others are on bike lanes on the side of the road.

La route des champs (40km)

With 40 kilometers of bike paths joining Chambly to Granby through Richelieu, this ride in the heart of the Montérégie's nature offers a beautiful sight.

Nearly two-thirds of the trail is paved. There are picnic tables along the way as well as water points. In addition, there are several establishments such as hotels, campgrounds, cafes and bike shops along the way so there is no problem recharging our scooters or electric scooters while we stretch our legs.

La piste du Canal-de-Chambly (20km)

The Canal de Chambly trail, open from April 15 to November 15, extends over 20km linking the cities of Chambly and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The path is in gravel along the canal. The landscape is very charming. A stop can be made at lock #9 of the Chambly Canal National Historic Site to recharge your wheel and enjoy free Wi-Fi.

If you leave from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, you can continue with the route des Champs!

La Montérégiade to top it all off (48km)

Arrived at St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, you can prolong the road by taking the Montérégiade. Magnificent bicycle path built on a disused railroad, on a total distance of 48Km, it is mainly made of rock dust. It starts in Sain-Jean-sur-Richelieu and arrives in Granby through Farhnam.

These 3 trails form a loop of more than 100km crossing the landscapes of the Montérégie. If you don't have a Veteran Sherman or a Gotway Ex, don't worry! The trails have designated areas where you can easily recharge your electric bikes. Don't leave without your charger(s) and enjoy!

La Riveraine et la Voie maritime, a classic for Montrealers. (42km+14km)

The Riveraine is the bicycle path that runs along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in the Montérégie region, from Sainte-Catherine to Varennes in the northeast, passing through several cities such as La Prairie, Saint-Lambert, Brossad, Longueuil and Boucherville. It is 42 km long and is quite varied in its layout and often busy. However, it offers beautiful views of the river with the great metropolis of Montreal in the background, dominated by Mount Royal and the Olympic Park.

See on the map in red the Seaway and the Riveraine trail.

The ascent of the Chemin de Chambly to connect the whole.

The Montée du Chemin de Chambly is a section of the route verte #1 between Longueuil and Chambly. It is the connection between the bike paths of Montreal and Chambly. Its route is mostly away from automobile traffic and its surroundings are well developed. Approximately 23km of trail from downtown Longueuil to Chambly.

Try it on a nice day!
